British software firm Piriform confirmed that the latest versions of their free junk removal software CCleaner was compromised and has already affected over 2 million Windows computers.
The breach could allow hackers to collect computer names, IP addresses, and lists of software installed on the computer.
When hackers corrupted this trusted software, people downloaded and used it, unaware of the threats it presented to their computers.
CCleaner’s parent company Piriform suggests that if CCleaner users have versions CCleaner v5.33.6162 or CCleaner Cloud v1.07.3191 to delete their app and redownload the new safe version.
